The photographer's smartphone. Leica design, Leica imaging philosophy, Leica intent — in the device you carry every day.

A 1-inch sensor. Built for light.

At the heart of the Leitzphone lies a large-format 1-inch main sensor with LOFIC technology — the same sensor architecture found in dedicated professional cameras, now in your pocket.
LOFIC (Lateral Overflow Integration Capacitor) places an additional capacitor beside every pixel, temporarily storing overflow electrons before they are lost. The result is a dramatic expansion of dynamic range — recovering highlight detail in bright skies and shadow texture in dark interiors simultaneously — exactly as you see the scene.
Developed and validated against Leica's own standards for optical performance, the sensor delivers tonal depth, natural color reproduction and visual coherence that reflect Leica's century-long understanding of light.

HDR photography, the Leica way.

Exceptional highlight retention and shadow recovery — because the moment never waits for perfect light. The Leitzphone's LOFIC sensor architecture delivers class-leading dynamic range for a smartphone. Where conventional sensors clip bright light and lose shadow detail, the LOFIC pixel structure preserves the full tonal range of a scene — from the brightest highlight to the deepest shadow — in a single exposure.
This is not computational HDR stacking. It is true, per-pixel dynamic range at the hardware level, processed through Leica's imaging pipeline to produce photographs with the tonal depth and naturalistic rendering characteristic of Leica cameras.

200 megapixels. Optically stabilised.

The Leitzphone's periscope telephoto camera combines a 200MP large-format sensor with a miniaturized optical structure inspired by classic zoom lens design.
Based on the Vario-APO-Summilux 14–100mm f/1.67–2.9 ASPH. lens system, the triple-camera setup delivers true optical zoom from 14mm to 100mm — equivalent to 1× to 7× on a full-frame camera. APO correction keeps chromatic aberrations under control, even in high-contrast scenes: cityscapes, architectural detail, intimate portraits at distance.
Optical Image Stabilisation (OIS) and continuous autofocus are standard across the telephoto range, ensuring sharp results handheld and in low light — essential for the decisive moment.

Classic profiles. Digitally reimagined.

Leica Essential Mode is a dedicated imaging mode developed using AI models trained on Leica camera and lens combinations — bringing the tonal character of iconic Leica systems into every shot.
It enables a RAW-to-RGB workflow with tonal and textural rendering inspired by classic Leica photography. The result is not a filter — it is a genuine reinterpretation of the imaging aesthetics that have defined Leica for generations, applied in real time to your photographs.

The camera ring. Shoot with your hands.

A mechanical camera ring that lets you physically interact with the Leitzphone the way you would with a Leica camera.
Rotating the knurled ring gives continuous, haptic control over zoom, exposure value, ISO and shutter speed. Switch focal length and cycle through Leica Looks without looking at your screen — keeping your eye on the subject, not the interface.
The ring is the defining design element of the Leitzphone, and the most direct expression of Leica's design philosophy: physical, deliberate, intuitive. The Leica design team created the entire device — from the black glass fibre rear panel to the precisely knurled metal frame — as a coherent expression of reduction to the essential.

1TB storage. All-day battery.

The Leitzphone is built for photographers who work — not for those who manage storage warnings or chase charging cables.

Leica Leitzphone — Frequently Asked Questions

What makes the Leica Leitzphone different from other Leica × Xiaomi phones? The Leitzphone represents a deeper level of collaboration than previous co-engineering models. It is led by Leica's design philosophy: the design is by Leica, the UI/UX is by Leica, the camera validation is to Leica standards — and it carries the iconic Leica red dot. The Xiaomi 17 Ultra continues the co-engineering series; the Leitzphone is a distinct, globally positioned Leica product.
What sensor does the Leitzphone use? The main camera features a 1-inch sensor with LOFIC (Lateral Overflow Integration Capacitor) technology, delivering exceptional dynamic range. The periscope telephoto uses a 200MP large-format sensor. Both are part of the Vario-APO-Summilux 14–100mm f/1.67–2.9 ASPH. system.
Does the Leitzphone replace a Leica camera? No. The Leitzphone brings selected Leica imaging principles into the mobile context. It is designed for everyday situations where carrying a dedicated camera is not possible — complementing, not replacing, a Leica M, Q or SL.
What is Leica Essential Mode? A dedicated imaging mode developed using AI models trained on Leica camera and lens combinations. It enables a RAW-to-RGB workflow that reproduces the tonal and textural character of classic Leica systems — including a Leica M9 color profile and a Leica Monopan-inspired monochrome profile.
Are the Leica Looks identical to those on Leica cameras? They are inspired by Leica lenses and imaging aesthetics and adapted for the mobile context in collaboration with Leica's optics design team. They offer a genuine stylistic interpretation, not an identical optical replication.
Is the Leitzphone manufactured by Leica? Leica led the design process and contributed optical development, image aesthetics, color science, UI/UX design and all imaging-related features. Leica also provides first-level customer support. Production is by Xiaomi.
