A familiar camera in a new finish
The D-Lux 8 has always been the camera Leica points to when someone wants the brand's handling and image quality in something pocketable. The Metal Gray version doesn't change any of that — it's the same body, the same lens, the same controls — just finished in an understated grey that sits somewhere between the black original and the warmer 100 Years of Leica edition. If you've been waiting for a D-Lux 8 that looks a little less like a black box, this is that camera. One lens, most of what you'll need
The Leica DC Vario-Summilux 10.9–34mm f/1.7–2.8 ASPH. covers a 24–75mm equivalent range, which is enough to go from a street scene to a tighter portrait without swapping anything. Wide open at f/1.7 it holds up in dim interiors and lets you separate a subject from its background when you want that; stopped down, it's sharp enough for landscapes and architecture. An optional automatic lens cap is available separately if you'd rather not fuss with a cap between shots.Enough resolution to actually use
The 4/3" CMOS sensor records 21.77 megapixels total, 17 megapixels effective, in either JPEG or DNG. Shooting DNG gives you the room to push exposure and colour in post without the image falling apart, which matters more on a compact sensor than on full frame. Video tops out at 4K at 30 frames per second, or Full HD at 60fps if you'd rather have the smoother motion.Built to shoot in the moment
A high-resolution OLED viewfinder and touchscreen mean you can compose either the traditional way or by eye on the rear display, whichever suits the situation. A compact clip-on flash comes in the box, useful for filling in shadows on a portrait or for second-curtain sync if you want a more deliberate, motion-blurred look. None of this is new to the D-Lux line — it's the same formula that's made the D-Lux 8 a reliable everyday-carry camera, just now available in this finish.Staying connected
The Leica FOTOS App pulls images straight off the camera onto your phone for editing and sharing, and can also drive the camera remotely if you want to shoot from a distance or trigger it hands-free.What's in the box:
