A colour with its own history

Leica's olive-green Safari finish goes back to the 1960s, when olive M-Cameras were built for military documentation rather than as a style choice — discretion in the field mattered more than looking good. Leica brought the colour to civilian cameras in 1977 with the R3 Safari, and it's reappeared periodically ever since, on the M6 TTL Safari, the M8.2 Safari and the M10-P Safari lens edition among others. The M11-P Safari is the furthest this lineage has gone — the first time it's been applied to Leica's most capable digital M.
 

Brass underneath, olive on top

The top and base plates are milled from solid brass and finished in a durable matte olive-green enamel, paired with an olive-green leatherette covering that keeps the colour consistent across the whole body. Where the black and metal gray M11-P versions lean quiet, the Safari finish is meant to be noticed — though it still does so with restraint rather than flash, which is really the point of a colour designed originally for the field rather than for attention.
 

Contrast, chosen deliberately

The controls and dials on the top plate and front are finished in silver rather than black, giving the olive body a clear point of contrast, while the rear buttons stay black for a familiar, uncluttered interface. As with every "P" designated M-Camera, the red Leica dot is left off the front — here it's replaced with a subtle silver screw rather than the black one used on other M11-P finishes, continuing the same silver accenting throughout.
 

The M11-P's real headline feature, unchanged

None of the styling touches what actually makes an M11-P different from a standard M11: Content Credentials. A dedicated security chip signs every image at the moment it's captured, using a certificate compliant with the Content Authenticity Initiative (CAI) and the C2PA standard. That signature travels with the file and can't be altered without being detected, so anyone can later verify where an image came from and whether it's been edited since. It works exactly the same here as on any other M11-P finish.

Behind the paint is the same 60 MP full-frame BSI sensor with Triple Resolution Technology found across the M11 range, driven by the Maestro III processor, with an ISO range down to 50 and up to 50,000. 256 GB of internal memory sits alongside a UHS-II SD card slot, and the rear display uses scratch-resistant sapphire glass. As with any M, focusing is entirely manual through the optical rangefinder — the M11-P Safari doesn't shoot video, and isn't trying to.
