The first M in this colour
Metal Gray is a new finish Leica has introduced across select cameras and lenses, and the M11-P is the first M-Camera to wear it. It sits alongside — not instead of — the classic black and silver-chrome finishes that have defined the M line for decades, giving photographers a third option that leans more understated than either. As with every M11-P, this is still handcrafted at Leica's factory in Wetzlar, Germany.A tone developed at the factory, not sourced off the shelf
Leica describes the Metal Gray finish as specially developed in-house, and in person it reads as darker and more restrained than the silver-chrome M11-P, without going as dark or as stealth as the black version. Black control elements provide the contrast against it, and the familiar diamond-pattern leatherette — the same covering used across Leica's current camera range — gives the body its usual grip and texture. It's a quieter statement than black or silver, which is rather the point. The M11-P's real headline feature, unchanged
What actually sets the M11-P apart from a standard M11 isn't the paint — it's Content Credentials. A dedicated security chip signs every image at the moment it's captured, using a certificate compliant with the Content Authenticity Initiative (CAI) and the C2PA standard. That signature travels with the file and can't be altered without being detected, so anyone can later verify where an image came from and whether it's been edited since — a feature that matters as much to photojournalists as to anyone shooting for a client who needs to prove a photo is real. None of that changes with this finish; it works exactly as it does on the black and silver M11-P.Everything else that makes it an M11-P
Underneath the finish is the same 60 MP full-frame BSI sensor with Triple Resolution Technology found across the M11 range, driven by the Maestro III processor, with an ISO range of 64 to 50,000 and roughly 15 stops of dynamic range. 256 GB of internal memory sits alongside a UHS-II SD card slot, so running out of storage mid-shoot is rarely a concern. As with any M, focusing is entirely manual through the optical rangefinder — the M11-P doesn't shoot video, and isn't trying to.Details that come with the "P"
Like previous P-series M-Cameras, the red Leica dot is left off the front in favour of a subtler top-plate engraving, and the rear display uses scratch-resistant sapphire glass rather than standard cover glass. These aren't specific to the Metal Gray version — they're part of what "P" has meant on an M-Camera since the M11-P first launched — but they suit the understated character of this new finish particularly well. What's in the box:

Leica M11-P, Metal Gray Paint Finish — Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Metal Gray M11-P different from the black or silver versions in specification?
No — the sensor, processor, storage and Content Credentials feature are all identical. Only the finish differs.
What is Content Credentials, and does it work the same on this finish?
Yes, unchanged. A built-in security chip digitally signs every image at capture, so its origin and any later edits can be verified through the Content Authenticity Initiative.
How much storage does the M11-P have?
256 GB of internal memory, plus a UHS-II SD card slot.
Does the M11-P shoot video?
No. Like every M-Camera, it's built for stills, with manual focus through an optical rangefinder.
Which other Leica products share this Metal Gray finish?
The Leica Q3, the Leica D-Lux 8, and the APO-Summicron-M 50 f/2 ASPH. lens.
Where is it made?
Handcrafted at the Leica factory in Wetzlar, Germany, the same as every M-Camera.
